West Virginia Vacation | Cass WV Photographer

Shenandoah mountains

This years vacation was quite different for us. We decided to vacation in West Virginia instead of going to the beach. The scenery was breathtakingly beautiful. We went down just as the fall colors were at their peak. Here is just a small sample of the beautiful pictures we captured. Enjoy 🙂

On our way to WV, we stopped in the Shenandoah mountains for the day to hike around.

The next day we stopped at Luray Caverns. We hadn’t been there since Isabelle was a baby.

After the caverns, we drove to Cass West Virginia. This town used to be a logging town till it shut int the 1960’s.

They have old steam engines that are still operational and they take tourist up the mountains every day.

We went on a  four and a half hour train ride to the top of one of the highest mountains in West Virginia.

The scenery was so beautiful I just stood at the door at the end of the car and looked out.

Half way up the mountain, we stopped at a little station where we could stretch our legs and look at some of the old machinery that was there.

This was the view from the very top of the mountain. It was breathtaking. We were very blessed to have a clear day. The conductor said there are only about 10-12 days a year when it was as clear as it was when we were there.

Some rather tame deer that were hanging out at the summit.

Afterwords we stopped at the general store again.

The guest houses. Some of which we stayed in.

This was, by far, one of the most beautiful trips that we’ve taken. And we’ve still never been farther west than Indiana. 😀

Thanks for all your patience waiting for this post. Posting more regularly with Christmas coming. Expect a post coming late this week. 🙂
