Dealing With the Snow

Hey guys! This post is a little late due to the warm week-end that I wasn’t about to miss. 🙂 Anyway here are some pictures that I’ve been experimenting with lately. For those of you who have never tried it, snow is very hard to take good pictures in. Just too white. I don’t really have a method for shooting in snow yet but here are some of my attempts. Enjoy.

They think they’re hiding.  Epic fail guys. 😀

Winter “Wow” picture.

Using light from a window to take this one. I was going to try to have steam coming out of the top but I burnt a hole in the bottom of the cup by putting it in the microwave. *headdesk* 😛 BTW brown spot on cup is melted chocolate.

Hey Blue!

Breaking News: Horse eats camera.

Attempt at macro photography. This is snow on our electric fence.

One thing that’s really good for snow pictures is a doorway….. and this green-eyed cat. It never fails.

This is Val. Short for Valentino, long for Va. And that’s his mother Mad Mama. (Yeah that’s really her name and yes she does get really mad at any one within 15 feet of her)

This is Rose.

And this is Abe Washington. They were all born in the past week or so. Aren’t they cute! 🙂

This is the time of year where I run out of ideas of what to photograph. Any ideas? Anything you’d like to see here? Leave a comment and let me know. 🙂

  1. Sometimes I question the internet and what is posted? Honestly the internet used to be like a different place, except that recently it seems to have become better and of the reason for it to be improving are blogs like this.

  2. i tried adding your post to my digg account as i liked it,but seems someone has already submitted this to digg, hence i just voted it. i found it very interesting because of your perception on the subject.

  3. Wow …I really like the one with the cat! That one is so pretty! And you’ve done a good job at trying to get snow pictures!! I’ve been finding it rather difficult myself! 🙂 I also really like the top landscape one! How did you get the sun to turn into a star? What were your camera settings? I’ve tried and tried to get that again, but have experienced difficulty.
And did all three girls make it down the hill on the sled? That looks like a lot of fun. 🙂 As for what else to post …it would be really fun to see pictures of you and your sisters doing school, and normal things about the house! 🙂 Or, more pictures of you and your sisters playing in the snow! 🙂
    Love you!
    Phina 🙂

  4. Great shots Liz! I love the one of the cat!! Her eyes are gorgeous…I’m kind of having the mid winter camera blues too 😀 Just met with a photographer yesterday, and he had a good idea to do for a challenge. Pick a type of object (tree, wheel, mug, etc.) and try to get 5 – 8 different shots of that type of object (doesn’t necessarily have to be the same exact one) from different angles. He said it will help in looking at things in a fresh way… 🙂 Keep up the great work!

  5. Love these pics!!! The first one is really pretty with the ‘starburst’ sun! Glad to see that you are still alive after your ‘cow episode’ 😛 (was it Mad Mama?) Those calves are tooooo CUTE!!!! (but I was sure the names would be more like ‘Tanger’, ‘TK’, ‘Geno’… :D)
