There And Back Again:A Dominican Mission Trip-Days 5,6,7 and 8

Wow! This post took a LONG time. Sorry for all the delay.

For this post, I’m trying a new method for putting the pictures up. If you are have trouble viewing anything, please LET ME KNOW in the comments.

We went to a village in the middle of the sugar cane fields this time. It was very HOT!

We pretty much had the same schedule as the last two days.

I walked over to VBS for a little bit later in the day.

Later that evening, we had a rather impromptu “Hidden Talent” night. (so sorry about the bad angle. Best I could get. πŸ™‚ ) We all had a blast. πŸ™‚

The next morning during devotions, we were all reminded of the Promise.

This village was the prettiest village we went to the whole week.

The positive 18’s came up again. πŸ˜›

Before we left, a few of us climbed up to the top of a near-by mountain. The view was BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

Later that night we went to a really nice church which was in the middle of nowhere.

We sang there too.

Em and my Dad also played.

The next day was Friday-the last full day we had. Taking a small group with us, we went to a village ten minutes drive away. When we got there, we stopped at a school.

There were only pre-schoolers there at the time so after visiting for a while, we decided to roam around the village.

Told by the adults to walk around the village and find some kids to talk to, we began randomly walking around.

I found some laundry. I have a thing forΒ  pictures of laundry. πŸ˜€

Where is a good place to find a bunch of kids? At a school.

To make a very long story short, we got kicked out. Literally. πŸ˜€

Next we went to a Haitian village. The living conditions were terrible there.

Later in the after noon, a few of us decided to climb a huge mountain that we could see from the MGM camp.

The Explorers. πŸ˜›

The burs were soooooooo bad down there. They stick to your leg and when you pull them off they cut you. Ouch! I still have little scars on my leg from that climb.

Later after recovering a little from the big climb, me and Phoebe C. got our hair braided.(I don’t have any good pics of the finished product. Sorry)

That night we said goodbye to half the team since they were leaving at four in the morning.

The next morning we all packed up and waited around for our bus to come pick us up at around 11AM. While we were waiting, the shoe-shine boys at the gate found a tarantella. My dad, being my dad, had to go and handle it.

Then it was time to load and go to the airport and spend an hour and a half checking in. Blah.

So that was the basic story of our trip. I hope you enjoyed it. πŸ™‚

Christa L. put up some more really nice pics of the DR. If you’d like to see them, Click Here.
